Mark Scott Leadership Award โ€“ The Conclusion

Since our last update both of our teams have gone full steam ahead to make their plans a reality.

Cara and Isobel: Cumbrae Care Home

In February Crown Paints were made aware of Cara & Isobel’s proposal and wanted to help. They did so by sourcing a bench for the community area at Cumbrae House from B.L.E.S training, a local company that provide SCQF accredited (level 4) training programmes to young adults aged 16-24yrs in construction, painting and decorating, plumbing and basic electrics. Crown also supplied the team with Sadolin wood preservatives for the care home fence.

Our coffee morning at Cumbrae care home helped explain the proposed works, talking residents through the colour choices for the fencing and bench. After much deliberation, residents selected Sadolins African Walnut and Redwood and in March a team of willing volunteers and their Bell Group mentors transformed the Garden at Cumbrae House. The residents are delighted with their new outdoor space, just in time for summer… if it ever arrives! Congratulations to Cara and Isobel for a job well done.

Lewis & Caitlin: Bankhead & Yoker Primary School

Lewis and Caitlin’s idea to create games on the tarmac of the school playground was well received at both Bankhead & Yoker Primary Schools, both of whom were looking forward to seeing the results- Akzo Nobel kindly donated paint to get the project underway.

A cycling track, clock & compass, snakes & ladders grid, graffiti wall and a boating pond that contains fish designed by the P3 & P4 pupils are included in the designs for Yoker Primary school. At Bankhead Primary a boating pond, 2 dance stages, a friendship wall, containing symbols the pupils feel represent friendship, and a graffiti wall liven up the playground. Well done to Lewis and Caitlin for helping create playgrounds the school staff and pupils are very proud of!
