Last night we attended the Clarion Futures Apprentice Awards in London amongst 100 different industry sector employers, and we are delighted to announce that we were crowned Employer of the Year and came home with the Outstanding Achievement award!

Why do I keep hearing that the older generation struggle to get jobs?

I often hear of people in their 50s and 60s struggling to find employment and to be quite honest, I don’t understand why this is the case. Is it that employers believe they will take more time off work due to ill health? Do they assume the older generation aren’t as computer literate and therefore less productive? Or do they believe the investment isn’t worth the shorter return before retirement?

This autumn will see the launch of our new national health and wellbeing programme. Formalising the tools we have in place to support our continued commitment to creating an engaging workplace and our staff in their personal and professional lives.

The aim of our Health and Wellbeing Strategy is to identify issues that our staff may face, what can be done to address them, and what outcomes we want to achieve.

Our strategy encourages individuals to work together to:

  •       prevent where we can

On Wednesday 22nd August, Bell Group teamed up with Byker Community Trust and Newcastle United Foundation to offer a group of young Byker residents the opportunity of a lifetime as they travelled to Newcastle United’s Training Ground for an incredible dream day out.

The event was donated by Newcastle United and Newcastle United Foundation at Footballer Christian Atsu's Black Star Dinner, in aid of Christian’s charity ‘Arms Around the Child’. Bell Group purchased the prize on the night and were delighted to donate it to Byker Community Trust.

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the sudden passing of our former Managing Director, Ian Henderson over the weekend. Those of you who dealt with Ian directly will appreciate how wonderful he was at his job. Those of you who worked with him closely will appreciate he had an incredible character and sense of humour.

He will be greatly missed and our thoughts are with his family at this sad time.

Employability skills will be taught hand-in-hand with the latest professional techniques to the students of Lincoln and Newark Colleges. We will also be offering work experience placements and apprenticeship opportunities.

Bell Group CEO Craig Bell said:

"As those of you who know me are aware, I'm very proud of the work we do in communities. As an organisation we have always had a social conscious and tried to use the work that we do to make a positive impact. I see many businesses today trying to emulate us but fundamentally you have to believe in the work you are doing and it has to form part of the DNA of your business if you want to drive real change.
