Bell Group commits to the next generation by joining The 5% Club

Bell Group has showcased its commitment to the next generation by joining The 5% Club, an industry led initiative focussed on driving momentum into the recruitment of apprentices, graduates and sponsored students.

The campaign was initiated by defence technology company QinetiQ with an aim to get the UK’s public and private companies to commit to raising the number of apprentices, sponsored students and graduates on formal programmes to 5% of their total workforce within five years.

Bell Group & Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust – It’s not just Painting!

Every year JRHT undertake external painting of their properties with several organisations being invited to tender for the work. The process to procure the work not only involves comparing the most competitive prices, but also requires the contractor to work with JRHT in delivering the requirements set out by the National Skills Academy for Construction (NSAfC). Contractors make commitments to providing, Work Experience Placements, Apprentices, & Job Creations throughout the contract as well as added social value in the form of community investment activities.

Bell Group in the Community, 2015 Round Up

The Public Services (Social Value) Act came into force on 31 January 2013. It requires people who commission public services to think about how they can also secure wider social, economic and environmental benefits.

Leek Foodbank Revamp

Bell Group were delighted to volunteer their expertise and repaint one of the hospitality rooms at Leek's foodbank free of charge.

Joint project co-ordinators at Leek & District Foodbank, Maureen and John Belfield said:

 "This work has made an enormous difference to the appearance of the room and made it a very welcoming environment for our client.

"We are most grateful to Your Moorlands for facilitating this, to Bell group for all their efforts and to the volunteers who gave their time to assist with the work.

Tour of Britain: Wordsworth House Makeover

Bell Group, in collaboration with The National Trust, came up with a radical plan to makeover the front of Wordsworth House in Cockermouth in celebration of the third stage of the Tour of Britain, which started in the town on 8th September.

Launch of the Slade Green Community Hub

A Fun Day was held in Slade Green to celebrate the launch of Slade Green Community Hub.

Hexagon Housing has been working in partnership with Bell Group UK, (Cyclical Redecorations Contractor) and Slade Green Big Local (a lottery funded, resident led community organisation) to bring a disused office in Rodeo Close, Slade Green back in to use as a Community Hub.   

Bell Group Win Johnstones Community Spirit Award

We are delighted to have been awarded the Johnstones Community Spirit award for our work with the ACANE Community Centre in the Byker Wall Estate in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.

ACANE (African Community Advice North East) provides support to African refugees and asylum seekers living in the North East of England. The service provides advocacy, information and advice, operates a drop in service and runs occasional activities and training courses at weekends.

Bell Group Apprentice of the Year

In June 2015 Dundee and Angus College held their annual Prize Giving Ceremony. The college hold this event every year to enable students to celebrate their acheivements and qualifications.

This year two of Bell Group (Aberdeen)'s apprentice were nominated and won their categories. Steven Scott won 1st Year Apprentice of the Year and Conor Simpson won 2nd Year Apprentice of the Year.

In addition, Steven and Conor picked up 1st place in the 'Craft Team Event' at the Scottish Association of Painting Craft Teachers (SAPCT) skills competition held in Ayr.

Fusion 21 Framework - No1 Contractor

Bell Group is delighted to have re-secured their place as no1 contractor on Fusion 21’s painting and repairs framework.

Over the duration of the last term we created in excess of 80 long term positions for Painters & Decorators, Joiners and Apprentices and have committed to creating over 40 more within the next term; in addition we will be taking on 4 new apprentices each year of the 4 year contract.

We look forward to another successful 4 years as part of the Fusion 21 team.

PDA Premier Trophy Award Nomination

Delighted to confirm Bell Group Leeds have been nominated for a PDA Premier Trophy Award for their works at Endcliffe Hall, Sheffield. 

The PDA Premier Trophy Awards began in late 1987 to improve the press coverage of the sector, demonstrate the diversity of skill and craft, demonstrate efficiency to clients, and develop the highest standards of excellence for the industry. The competition is now in its 26th year and still holds true to these objectives.
