Russell Court residents, take a seat!

Bell Group Letchworth team on 2nd February, with the support of client bpha, presented a bench and memorial plaque to the residents at Russell Court in Bedford.

The communal garden at the retirement scheme is well-loved and well-kept by the residents and so a new bench seemed the perfect addition to the current series of improvement works underway. The bench features a commemorative plaque that was specifically dedicated to the residents at Russell Court and includes the words: “May you enjoy many happy, sunny days here.”

One happy resident, Jack Beck, said: “We are very pleased with the new bench. We will spend many hours in the garden sitting on it as we all enjoy being outside in the garden. We have lots of functions out here including strawberry teas.”

The bench wasn’t the only feature the team helped deliver as they also repaired the other three garden benches and two perimeter gates and gave the gates and shed’s paintwork a refresh.

The project was carried out under the guidance of Bell Group staff, Terry Crouchman, Site Supervisor, James Purcell, Repairs Contracts Manager and supported by our operatives Vasile Pop and Tony Demetriou. All volunteered their time to make the vital rejuvenation works happen.

Bell Group Community Engagement Coordinator Rosanna Giarraputo and bpha Jo-Ann Stother, Project Manager co-ordinate all supported housing scheme initiatives.

Rosanna said: “I am so pleased that we were able to support the residents at Russell Court. We, as a team, had seen how well-loved the garden area is by the residents here. We were more than happy to make it just that little bit more special for them. I am incredibly proud of our team for all their hard work on this project. We all hope that the residents continue to enjoy their garden especially with these new additions and improvements.”
