Mock Interview Day in Sheffield

Bell Group Stoke were approached by The Guinness Partnership and offered the opportunity to get involved in their community initiative, ‘Mock Interview Day’ at Sheffield Park Academy, Sheffield.  The event was designed to offer the pupils a chance to practice their interview skills in an environment similar to an actual interview and work on the etiquette that will be expected from a potential employer.

The area suffers from high unemployment figures and training like this is aimed at encouraging and equipping pupils to enter the workplace or to go into further education on leaving school.

Twenty business representatives were there on the day including Bell Group, Guinness Partnership and local authority workers, around 160 pupils were interviewed in total.  Prior to the event pupils had to select one of the ‘mock roles’ offered to them and complete an application form.  This formed the basis of the interview and, on a one on one basis; our Business Development Manager Anna McCombes interviewed the pupils.

Following the interviews Anna gave the pupils feedback, again on a one to one basis, and discussed what they hope to achieve in the future and the possible ways that they could achieve these goals.

The day was regarded as a huge success by all and Bell Group were so impressed with one of the candidates that we offered to provide a work experience placement in the future. We also hope to get involved in events like this with some of our other partnering clients.
